Upstream Operations
Our upstream operations focus on sustainable farming and direct farmer engagement across West Africa, ensuring reliable supply, quality beans, and shared value creation from the very beginning of the cocoa chain.
Farmland: 750 hectares in Oda and Ilara Mokin (Ondo State, Nigeria), cultivated with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and climate-smart methods.
Multi-Origin Sourcing: Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Togo, and Guinea Conakry.
Our Nourished Crop, Better Farmer Program:
- 24,000+ farmers supported with training and digital premium payments.
- 400,000+ cocoa and shade tree seedlings distributed since 2022.
- 25,000+ hectares certified for sustainable cocoa; 3,000+ farms mapped for traceability.
- Community projects in education, clean water (solar boreholes), women empowerment, and child-labour monitoring.
Value Addition
We have a combined annual processing capacity of 48,000 MT, making us the largest cocoa processor in Nigeria and the second largest in Africa.
Johnvents Cocoa Factory, Akure, Nigeria
Johnvents Cocoa Factory is an 18,000 MT cocoa processing factory with cocoa liquor, butter, cake, and powder as outputs. Since the start of operations in 2021, thousands of tonnes of cocoa butter and cake have been exported to European countries, the USA, and other parts of the world.
Premium Cocoa Products Ile-Oluji, Nigeria
Premium Cocoa Products (Ile-Oluji) is the oldest surviving cocoa processing plant in Nigeria. It is a 30,000 MT Cocoa processing plant with a global legacy of producing globally acceptable cocoa products. Johnvents Industries acquired it in February 2023.

Johnvents Cocoa Sustainability Program Timeline:
- 2022: Initiated our sustainability program with a long-term target of supporting 150,000 farmers by 2030. We began with a workshop and distributed 1,000 seedlings.
- 2023: Distributed 50,000 seedlings and expanded engagement and training in good agronomy.
- 2024: Distributed 115,000 seedlings in seven locations, bringing the total to 166,000.
- 2025: Distributed over 250,000 seedlings, for a total of more than 400,000 since the program ’s inception. We also established five farmer cooperative groups and certified over 25,000 hectares for sustainable cocoa. We have also mapped over 3,000 farms for traceability.
